National labour hire licensing update

The Federal Government has committed to ensuring that the labour hire industry is regulated throughout the nation in order to protect all labour hire workers from exploitation.

Labour hire licensing schemes presently operate in Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.

The Victorian Government has welcomed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensure that the industry is regulated across Australia.

The former Federal Government had also previously committed to a national approach to labour hire regulation following a number of reports from Commonwealth agencies.

The Federal Government has conducted an initial consultation with the States and Territories, employer associations and unions, and is currently considering stakeholder feedback.
