New LHA communications campaign targets meat and poultry processing workers
4 July 2024Labour hire workers in the meat and poultry processing industries are the target of a new communications campaign by the Labour Hire Authority (LHA).
Building on the campaign that ran in December 2023 and January 2024 to target horticulture workers, this new activity launched across digital, social media and press channels and will run until the end of July.
The campaign aims to raise meat and poultry processing workers’ awareness of their rights and how to report unlawful treatment by labour hire businesses.
LHA has worked with key industry stakeholders to understand the needs of workers in meat and poultry processing, and the campaign will have translations into 10 relevant languages.
Information for workers – along with posters, handouts and digital assets – are available for download on a dedicated webpage: labourhireauthority.vic.gov.au/meat-worker
The new communications campaign follows enhanced LHA compliance and enforcement activities in the meat and poultry processing industries over the last year, including site visits and investigations.
